The Life Coaching Havurah -- Create Your Future!

ATID’s Coaching Havurah is a long-term intensive (7-12 months) which offers the opportunity to be a member of a team that is committed to your spiritual growth, personal development, and professional satisfaction. By blending Jewish scholarship, tradition, and values with life skills and personal reflection, participants experience personal development, spiritual inquiry and professional achievement.

Description

The word "Coach" originated in the village of Kocs, Hungary, where horse-drawn coaches were invented and first used. Literally, a coach is a mechanism designed to move you from where you are to where you want to go. A professional life coach helps you assess your current level of productivity and satisfaction, establish goals for increased output and quality, and guide you to an improved level of performance and satisfaction.

The term Havurah, is derived from the Hebrew word “haver”, which means friend. A Havurah has been defined as a group of Jews who form a close community through the sharing of communal experiences. These communities are often led by Rabbis who contribute to the spiritual development and religious identity of its members.

ATID is the Hebrew word for "future". We hope you see ATID and Sinai Temple as resources for your educational, spiritual and social development as you create the future you want.

The goal of this program is to provide young Jewish professionals (ages 21-39) a structure for success that includes motivation, support and accountability. By blending coaching strategies and life skills with exploration and discussion of Jewish values and traditions, you will identify, pursue and achieve your goals and create effective strategies for positive change. Through monthly workshops, weekly action plans, daily support from your peers and private coaching sessions, you will experience a deeper appreciation of yourself, your gifts and your ability to achieve a life of balance, fulfillment and satisfaction. As well, both individually and communally, you will learn different ways to grow spiritually and nourish your Jewish soul.

Facilitator Biographies

Nicole Guzik Rabbi Guzik graduated with honors from the University of California, Los Angeles, attaining a B.A. in Near Middle Eastern Studies and Languages. At UCLA, she served as the UCLA Hillel President. After graduation, Rabbi Guzik participated in the Jewish Campus Service Corps Fellowship at Indiana University, a program that strengthens Jewish identity on the college campus.

Ordained at the Jewish Theological Seminary, Rabbi Guzik co-founded the lecture series: Visions of the Jewish Future. Rabbi Guzik was the recipient of awards in liturgy, philosophy, and Jewish codes and served as a research assistant for Rabbi Neil Gillman. During her four years as a Rabbinic Intern at Sinai, Rabbi Guzik had the pleasure of working under Rabbis Wolpe, Hirsch, Schuldenfrei, and Sela. She created Hazon He-ATID, the Friday Night Live prayer book, as well as Mahzor He-ATID, the He-ATID High Holy Day prayer book. Her other professional opportunities include an admissions internship at the JTS rabbinical school and rabbinic internships at The George Washington Hillel and Heritage Pointe.

She is engaged to Rabbi Erez Sherman, assistant Rabbi at Shomrei Torah Synagogue.

Prior to joining Sinai Temple in September 2005, Stacey Jill Zackin earned her professional coaching credentials from the Coaches Training Institute and completed a dual Master’s program at USC’s School of Social Work and Hebrew Union College’s School of Jewish Communal Service. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in Depth Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Montecito, CA. As a life coach, Stacey helps people transform the life they have into the life they want. Using her compassion, directness and humor, Stacey helps her clients expand their perspectives, maximize their strengths, and create a life that honors their true values and desires.
